Photograph caption dated May 8, 1961 reads "San Fernando High's Odis Gentry, seen winning 440 preliminary heat, comes back for more racing Friday at Valley College and will meet new record holder, John Aldridge of Poly, in one of the feature races of the day. Aldridge set new quarter-mile mark at prelims of 49.2. Gentry ripped off a 49.5."
