After just three decades of use, Whittier Downs Shopping Center was razed due to declining popularity. Looking south down Norwalk Boulevard (right) near where it meets Washington Boulevard at the Whittier Downs Shopping Center in Santa Fe Springs. Some of the retailers include: J. C. Penney, Thrifty Drug Co., F.W. Woolworth Co., and a Food Giant supermarket. In the neighboring shopping center (background) is a King Cole Market, designed by A. Quincy Jones.
