Photograph of quarry worker panning rocks, March 1928. At center, a quarry worker is visible holding a shallow tin plate in his hands The man wears a lightly-colored button shirt with the sleeves rolled-up to his elbows. He also wears darkly-colored pants and dust-covered darkly-colored boots. The man wears a dusty hat on his head and holds a small wooden pipe with his lips. At his feet, a small shovel pushed into the dirt sits adjacent to several circular slabs full of holes. To his left, another pan is seen hanging from three chains connected to a railroad car. In the foreground, a rectangular cloth is spread across the dirt. In the extreme background, a tower structure with a large opening at its base is visible. Description on back of photoprint reads: "Rock products are now tested at the plants".
