Photograph caption dated July 8, 1963 reads, "Don Gifford needs a ladder to reach the same heights as the giant sunflowers growing at his North Hollywood home at 11163 Camarillo St. The big flowers just kept growing and growing, and when they reached 18 feet, Gifford decided it was about time to cut them down and allow room for other plants."
