This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
View of the Baldwin Hotel at Powell and Market Street; cable car on Market Street in front of the hotel. Written caption dates photo at 1881. Cable car service on Market Street did not begin until two years later. Architecture of Copeland Medical Building two doors away from Baldwin suggests mid-1890's date.
