Description
The original gift for the Florence Rand Lang Art Building was made in 1935 by Mrs. Florence Rand Lang of Pasadena and built two studios; her additional gift in 1936 added the Central Court with weaving rooms, ceramics studios, and the full basement; a further gift in 1937 built the remainder of the two-story building containing offices, studios, exhibit rooms, and galleries, which appears here. The architect, Gordon Kaufmann of Los Angeles, made use of suggestions for the entire plan as sketched by Millard Sheets. This location has since become Malott Commons.
