Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated March 16, 1954 reads, "And the outside looks a great distance away from the inside of one of the two detention rooms located in Burbank's new court building as County Marshal Maurice Friedman opens a second automatically controlled double safety lock to escort a prisoner to court. The outside grill (shown in back of Friedman) is also ordinarily covered by a sliding door similar to those of an elevator. The lock features, opened by keys, and the grill-bar combination are latest in jail equipment. One of few consoling thoughts for a prisoner might be the refrigeration-air conditioning throughout the building."; See images #00139186 through #00139188 for all photos in this series.
