Belonged in 1789 to the poet William Hayley (1745-1820); his signature on f. iii verso, but not traced in his 1821 or 1844 sales. Owned by Benjamin Heywood Bright, although, due to rebinding (?), no ownership marks present; his sale, Sotheby's, 18 June 1844, pt. II, n. 242 to Wilson. Later owned by the Rev. Thomas Corser (1793-1876), although, again, no ownership marks survive; his sale, Sotheby's, 11 July 1870, pt. V, lot 556 to Ellis. Sold by W. C. Hazlitt to Henry Huth (1815-78); in The Huth Library (London 1880) 4:1196. Sale of Alfred H. Huth (1850-1910), Sotheby's, 11 July 1917, pt. VI, lot 6023 to Quaritch.
