Photograph caption dated December 7, 1962 reads "Zodys opens third Valley store - Third Valley store in the Zodys chain of discount department stores opened Thursday in Burbank before a giant crowd. Many television celebrities and civic officials participated in the grand opening ceremonies, which included the arrival of Santa Claus by helicopter on the store's parking lot. Among dignitaries on hand for the formal ribbon cutting were, from left, Lester Cowgill, president of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce; Charles Compton, mayor of Burbank, Lee Friedman, vice president in charge of store operations; Santa Claus and Richard H. Wolfe, vice president and general manager."
