Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, was officially opened on July 4, 1959 by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon and was designed by Welton Becket; general contractor was L.E. Dixon Company. The last event at the arena was a Bruce Springsteen concert. The arena was closed on March 19, 2016 and demolished to make room for a new soccer stadium. Photograph caption dated March 9, 1964 reads "Members of the Los Angeles Blades and San Francisco Seals get a rest provided by Blades' Frank Arnett and Paul Jackson of the Seals. The little 'war' started as a boxing match and then the boys turned to wrestling before the referee stopped it. Watching are Willie O'Ree (10) and Camille Beddard [sic] of the Blades and San Francisco's Jerry [sic] Odrowski (5). The Blades won 2-0." The game was held at the Sports Arena.
