Description
Two women in London fashionable full dress. The woman on left has her back toward the viewer and wears a large, square, gold and red ornament in her hair and a white band around her head. She wears a necklace and light yellow gloves. Her white, full length dress has red ribbon detailing and ribbon trims her sleeves, crosses her back from shoulder to shoulder, with two long ends falling down her back. There are two red stripes near the hem of the skirt. She wears white, flat shoes. The woman on the right sits down, reclining on a settee. She has a gold headband with a crescent shaped amulet and a sheer lace veil. She wears a gold, double stranded necklace with a red oval gem in the center of the upper strand and the lower strand reaching below the waist of her dress. She wears a gold bracelet on her left arm. Her dress is white, full length and has a train. The bodice and sleeves of her dress have decorative stitching or lace to give it texture. She wears yellow shoes. She holds a white and yellow circular fan in her hand. The settee is wood with carved classical details and light pink upholstery. A blue drape is placed over the armrest or back of the seat. A gold fish or classical Roman dolphin, adorns the front corner of the settee. Red tassels hang from the bottom edge. The seated woman also has a small white dog lying next to her on the settee.
