The Santa Cruz Hook and Ladder Company, a volunteer fire department for the City of Santa Cruz in the 19th century. Men pulled the fire equipment until around 1890, when horses began to be used. After the Great Fire of 1894, Santa Cruz City had a paid Fire Department.
