Photograph was used for an article dated February 22, 1961; the caption reads, "These two photographs depict the rapid growth of Van Nuys in the first few months following its founding. Top photograph, taken on Feb. 9th, 1911, shows first building erected, the Southern Pacific railroad station. Bottom photograph, taken Dec. 16th, 1911, shows Van Nuys Boulevard, with the Pacific Electric line in the center and a good start towards building a city."; See images #00032826 and #00117914 for all photos in this series.
