Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of Hollywood looking north on Vine Street from Clinton Street, ca.1926-1930. Residential blocks full of one-story houses fill the foreground, turning into high rise hotel buildings as Vine Street approaches the mountains. Cars park and drive along the street. A single "H" as well as the Hollywood sign are visible, the Hollywood sign reading "Hollywoodland". Other legible signs include: "Washing Polishing", "Repairing Batteries", "Melrose Tire & Rubber", "Hotel / Lowest Rates", "APL Hotel", "Otto K. [...]", "Bryn Mawr", "Guaranty Pays 6% Safe-Deposit-[...]", "Dyas", "Plaza" and "V". What appears to be a dam is visible at the foot of the mountains in the upper left.
