Photograph caption dated December 31, 1958 reads "Ricky Blanchard, 8, who is still alive thanks to open-heart surgery and blood provided by Red Cross, invites entire community to a weeklong 'open house' at Valley Branch Red Cross marking facility's first anniversary. Behind Ricky is his father, Disc Jockey Richard 'Red' Blanchard. At extreme left is Mrs. Josephine Booth, vice chairman of Staff Aides, and at extreme right is Mrs. Willis Daggs, chairman of Staff Aides."
