Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 8, 1964 reads "Fourth and fifth grade students in Mendy Koenig's class at Northridge Elementary School have painted a huge map of California on the school ground to help them in understanding geographical concepts such as lakes, dams, climate, regions, bays, cities and highways and major cities. Above, students conduct relays and take trips under Koenig's direction. The map measures 120 feet from north to south, and has been a boon in teaching geography."
