Description
Kay Bogendorfer Orner was born in 1909. She was president of the Los Angeles Civil Service Commission from 1953-1960, and the first female postmaster in Van Nuys, serving from 1960-1972. She died in 1991.
Photograph caption dated August 13, 1957 reads "Mrs. Kay Bogendorfer of Van Nuys, president of Los Angeles City Civil Service Commission, and Commissioner Mario L. Clinco, right, outline city's civil service procedure to Jorge Da Costa of Brazilian School of Public Administration. He is studying U.S. government during tour."
