Half-timbers decorate the facade of the large, three-story, First Brethren Church at Fifth Street and Cherry Avenue in Long Beach. A wooden staircase on the side touches each floor. A large, arched window with many panes is next to the stairs. The building is faced with stucco and has a sloping roof. A recently planted palm tree and a parked automobile, left, is across the street.
