Description
The headline of this newspaper article, "Japanese Leave Santa Anita," indicates that the temporary assembly center set up at the Santa Anita Racetrack in Los Angeles was being emptied. The people formerly stationed there have now been transported to more permanent incarceration centers elsewhere. The images show them evacuating the Santa Anita Racetrack by train, waving goodbye to friends and loved ones, and gathering their relatives and belongings for the journey. The small text clipping explains that 500 more Japanese leave the temporary assembly center at Santa Anita and are bound for the Rohwer Incarceration Camp in Arkansas.
