The girl is standing on a stool at left and is wearing a kimono and has a flower in her hair. She is striking the center of the gong with a large mallet. An elderly monk dressed in a long, dark robe and a dark cap can be seen at right, holding the gong. In the background, a pagoda-style tower is visible in front of a clapboard building. A large pot can be seen in front of a brick wall at left.
