Description
Scrapbook/photo album created by the San Jose Exchange Club to document their 1951 Toys for Joy drive in partnership with the San Jose Fire Department. Used toys were collected from the public, repaired by the Fire Department, and distributed to underprivileged children in the community as holiday presents. Dick Harper and Ron Taylor were co-chairmen of the event. The scrapbook includes clippings, photographs, letters from families asking for assistance, letters to Santa, logistical details. One of 15 scrapbooks created by the Exchange Club of San Jose documenting the organization's community service projects in the 1950s.
