Description
Image shows group of boys at work in the Manual Training class at Malaga Cove School, located at 385 Via Almar in Malaga Cove. Standing at their work benches, the boys are proceding through the "Steps in Dressing Stock" under the supervision of the instructor, Mrs. Enid Daniel Jones, visible at far right. Emphasizing the intellectual and social development associated with the practical training of the hand and the eye, the Manual Training movement was the precursor to what later evolved to be vocational training programs. Students would be taught to use tools in drafting, mechanics, wood or metal working. Photo Source: Palos Verdes Homes Association Two prints available, one copy print by Robert C.
