Scope/Content: Head of the SEIU John Sweeney brought national attention to the kick off of the Los Angeles janitors campaign. Scope/Content: SEIU President Sweeney announced the release of a report on janitors in LA sharply censuring highly-profitable LA businesses for paying janitors low wages and congratulating JfJ for securing a majority downtown. This precedes the JfJ move into Century City and Sweeney's rise to the AFL-CIO presidency, but reflects the more aggressive growing "organizing culture" in SEIU that JfJ led. Scope/Content: Service Employees International Union. 1989.
