Description
Image of the Pacific Electric Railway Ocean Avenue depot in the foreground, with a streetcar marked "Venice," and the Looff Pleasure Pier, Santa Monica Municipal Pier and beach in distance in Santa Monica, California. The Looff Hippodrome (with "Welcome" sign), "Bowling and Billiards" building, the Blue Streak Racer roller coaster, and Aeroscope rides are visible on the pleasure pier.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title based on note from donor Ernest Marquez; date devised by cataloger based on year the Looff Pier was completed and the style of clothing in the image. The Pacific Electric Railway system of electric streetcars and rail was also known as the Red Car system.
