A commencement program for Del Paso Junior High School's class of 1961. Construction on Del Paso Junior High School began in 1952 and initially included plans for a much larger structure designed by Beaux-Arts architect Leonard Starks, best known in Sacramento as the architect of the Alhambra Theatre, however these plans were cut back due to a decrease in funding. Del Paso Junior High School was the last in a string of junior high schools built by the Grant Joint Union High School District during this period which included Rio Linda Junior High School and Las Palmas Junior High School. It opened in fall of 1953.
