Photograph caption dated December 9, 1957 reads "Ground has been broken for the new $500,000 Brierwood Terrace Valley Convalescent Hospital on Ventura boulevard near Hayvenhurst. Left to right: Lester Rich, M.D., who as physician-member of the Encino Chamber of commerce welcomed the hospital project to the community; Miss Irene Weiss, R.N., who will be superintendent of the hospital; Yale Freed, of Encino, administrator and executive director of the hospital; Mrs. Freed; Jerry Amoroso, managing director, Encino Chamber of Commerce; Jacob Schwartz, attorney, and S. Jon Kreedman, of S. Jon Kreedman Co., contractors who are building the institution. The hospital is due to be completed in six months."
