Description
Photograph of a carrot patch in Venice Celery District, April 12, 1927. Rows of long carrots lie unearthed in the soil at center. An empty, wooden crate sits in the patch on the left while carrots that have yet to be pulled still sit in the soil along the edges of the patch. Beyond the carrot patch is a clearing of dark, unused soil. A man sifts the soil with two horses in the background at center while a community of homes stands behind him in the distance.
