Description: Seen from the Lake Vineyard estate of B. D. Wilson, in the distance is the two-story mansion of James De Barth Shorb in San Gabriel (now San Marino, California), with a wide porch sitting on a hilltop. In the foreground is a line of trees, and further in the distance an orchard.
Title derived from Watkins New Series stereo #4426; image also corresponds with cabinet photograph titled "View at Lake Vineyard, San Gabriel, Cal." (see photPF 508). Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Transcribed from back of photo: "Shorb house from Wilson."
