Description
Image of a female allegorical figure leading trains, covered wagons, coaches and prospectors westward across America; Native American Indians, bears, bison, and other wildlife proceed westward ahead of the American expansion at left.
Date supplied by cataloger based on printer history; Stafford & Co. designed this print after the 1872 painting American Progress by John Gast, and they moved from Nottingham to Netherfield in 1883/1884. "Stafford & Co. Nottingham."--text, bottom left margin.
