Note: Erdbeben 1862. (TG). Note translation: Earthquake 1862. (TG). - This photograph is almost certainly referred to in a letter from Wilhelm Locher to Basel, dated 9th Dec. 1862 (D-1.13b.Christiansborg No.78) in which he states he is enclosing a photograph of the tented encampment of the local garisson, as seen from his own present habitation. NB the earthquake took place on 10th July 1862 according to another report by Locher dated 12.th July. (Information from Ulrike Sill, PJ 08.2002).
