Sergeant Niely, from the H & S Co. 307, 82nd Airborne Division, posts a Los Angeles city limits sign above signage indicating the distance and direction of Berlin and Hamburg, April 4, 1945. Approximately a month later, Germany surrendered in Rheims, France.
