Photograph caption dated June 16, 1950 reads, "F. M. Gettys, former San Fernando Valley chairman of Community Chest, takes shovel in hand to break ground for new Service Center for Chest supported agencies at Burbank Blvd. and Tilden Ave., Van Nuys. At Gettys' left is Barney C. Ruben, who will biuld [sic] structure, and at Gettys' right is Paul Kyost, president of Welfare Federation of Los Angeles. Onlookers are other Valley civic leaders."
