Description
A black and white photo in good condition of a two story house built in 1911, located at 489 West Seventh Street. The house is commonly referred to as the White House. The original owners were Newell and Adele Miliken who had strong ties to the community. While living in Claremont, The Milikens, along with the Peairs family, opened the Claremont Nursery on Foothill Boulevard. The nursery was the source of many of the citrus trees planted around Claremont. After graduating Claremont College, their son worked for the Chaffey School District and became President of Chaffey College.
