Description
Copy print of an early Central Pacific Superintendent's Car. The construction car was part of the train crew which followed behind the workers laying track. The women were at the front during most of the construction over the Sierra Nevada mountains. From left to right: Mrs. J. M Graham, wife of the civil engineer; Mrs. J. H. Strobridge, wife of the Superintendent of Construction and Mrs. Venantio Ayres, wife of the clerk and secretary to Mr. Strobridge, Venantio Ayres, and Mr. F. L. Vandenburg, Superintendent of telegraph construction. The two men sitting with their backs to the camera are Native Americans of the Piute tribe. From an Alfred Hart stereo card.
