Photograph was edited for publication purposes John H. Francis Polytechnic High School opened in 1905, a satellite of Los Angeles High School. It is the second oldest high school in the city. Originally located in Downtown Los Angeles, in February 1957 Polytechnic moved to its present site at 12430 Roscoe Boulevard, in Sun Valley. Former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley was an alumnus. Photograph caption dated October 27, 1958 reads "Members of Knights, Polytechnic High School honor-service organization, will engrave student's names on hub caps Tuesday in school parking lot. Al Richards, left, sponsor of Knights, supervises as club member Bill Hernolz writes on hub cap with electro-engraving pencil. John Ryan waits turn. Purpose of service is to prevent theft of auto hub caps."
