Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Los Angeles looking west from City Hall tower toward Hollywood, November 12, 1930. Court Flight, a funicular railroad, can be seen in the foreground at left. Just right of it, the roofs of the Hall of Records (1910-1976) can be seen. The second Court House (1891-1935) is visible right of the Hall of Records. The Hall of Justice (built in 1925) can be seen across Temple Street from the Court House. Women's Christian Temperance Union Building (built in 1889) is visible across Broadway from Hall of Justice. In the middle, at right, the First High School in Los Angeles (1873-1949) can be seen: a white three-story structure visible above Hall of Justice. Trees can be seen among the buildings, especially at left. In the background, a line of low mountains runs across the image from left to right.
