Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated September 9, 1961 reads, "Holiday symbolism. Rabbi Fredric Kazan, spiritual leader of Temple Ner Tamid, 15339 Saticoy St., Van Nuys, participates with Stephen Hyde, left and Steven Weissman in traditional apple and honey ceremony which signifies hope for a sweet year. The ceremony in the home precedes Rosh Hashanah services in the temple. A round challah on the table signifies the crown of God, or, some say a year of never-ending happiness.
