Description
Photograph of stevedores playing craps on a boat called "Los Angeles", 1928. Two groups of men are seen on board of a ship. The first group, observable in the foreground, is encircling a specific spot of the deck and the men are either sitting down with dollar bills in their hands or standing behind them. The second group, farther in the back, is making a circle around the floor and a small cloud of smoke is visible coming out from one of the men. There are ropes extending from above hooked to the rail, observable by the edge of the boat. Wooden boards and a space below deck can be seen next to the first group of men. Machinery and large cans are visible in the background. Water is viewable in the right. A small description on the back of the photograph reads: "Stevedores engaged in pastime popularity known as "craps" on board Hamburg-American Line Motorship 'Los Angeles' in Los Angeles Harbor, 1928".
