Description: This jar was given as a gift from pastor Lars J.Roestvig to one of the chiefs in West Madagascar. After the chief's death it was placed on his grave. Lars J. Roestvig was a missionary in Madagascar from 1874-1911. He married Anne Elisabeth 1846-1878, maiden name Figved, in Morondava on September 10, 1876. On April 14, 1881 in Tulear he married Martha Serine 1862-1941, maiden name Olsen.
