Description
Stevedores are trying to persuade a pure-bred Devon bull named Deputy Paymaster into its stall on the "S.S. City of Panama" cargo ship for transportation to Guatemala. Besides a rope attached to the bull's halter, a rope is lassoed around the bull's horns and held by stevedores standing well behind the bull. The bull was purchased from W.E. Gird of Bonsall by Carlos Zamora, a young Guatemalan taking the animal husbandry course at the Branch College of Agriculture, Davis. Casks, crates and sacks of merchandise on the dock are also being loaded. Photo dated: Jun. 14, 1926.
