Description
This 1907 postcard shows the southwest entrance to the California State Capitol Building's grounds. The piers, each weighing some 15 tons, were put into place in 1881 by hydraulic power. Their presentation, and the remaining granite fencing on the west end of the Capitol's grounds, was designed by architect W.H. Hamilton.
