Description
This 2008 postcard shows a portion of the stairs scaling one end of the California State Capitol building. The pictured flight -- built of Honduran mahogany -- is a replica of the original set, first constructed in 1871 by Philetus Burnett out of California Walnut. The 2007 rehabilitation, seeking to replace a wrought iron and stone stairwell was completed by Burnett and Sons, a business descended from the stairs' original builder.
