Description
Shown is a 1980 postcard of the Eagle Theatre at 921 Front St in Old Sacramento. The building is a reconstruction of the original theater that opened in 1849 on the waterfront as part of the Round Tent Saloon. The theatre changed hands many times until the flood season of 1850 ruined the building. The Junior League of Sacramento raised funds for a reconstruction of Eagle Theatre in the early 1970s. The small building ran as a theatre once more from 1974 to 1996. The Eagle Theatre is now a California Historic Landmark.
