Registration of 27,000 Los Angeles children for kindergartens got under way today. This was the scene at Kentwood School, 8401 Emerson Boulevard, where 165 pupils will be enrolled. Under a new state law, children were being admitted to kindergarten in order of their birth dates. This provision eliminated the old "first-come, first-served" procedure which led to tedious lineups for parents. Photo dated: September 6, 1949.
