Description
Florence Turton Clunie donated $150,000 in 1935 to have something substantial, and of use to the community, built on the grounds of McKinley Park. In August of 1936 over 4,000 eager children and adults descended on the newly-filled Clunie Pool. The pool lay adjacent to the new Clunie Community Center and was designed by architect Harry Devine and constructed by the team of Stark and Flanders, all of them responsible for some of Sacramento’s best-known structures.
