Description
A Mayan woman embraces a girl sitting on her lap in the refugee camp in Benito Juárez, Chiapas. Refugees in the camps had no resources to deal with illness such as tubercolosis, dengue, malaria or malnutrition. On September 29 of 1982, more than one hundred armed Guatemalans took control of a small village nearby, and a Guatemalan paramilitary unit kidnapped two Guatemalans in Benito Juárez. Their mutilated bodies were later found in a river.
