Description
Barrio Expressions was a community access television show documenting Chicanx and Latinx life in the East San Francisco Bay Area. It ran on Hayward cable television from 1976-1985. While the shows were filmed primarily in the Hayward area, they include stories from around the East Bay and San Jose. The show aired weekly, with 26 episodes per year. Segments include tape of young people hanging out at Kennedy Park; taped profile of the Hayward Aztlan Boxing Club and interviews with boxers; tape of fusion jazz band playing at Laney College in Oakland from 1981; tape of workers striking outside International Window and interviews; Tony Guerra tribute to Hector Amaya; commentary from Juan Espinoza on Hayward Arts Council; interviews with residents at the corner of Tennyson Road and Pompano Avenue about police harassment.
