Shows train on the tracks in front of the station house, men standing on top of some of the box cars and along the tracks, tunnel entrance to the right in the distance. Watkins no. 1145 -- view 3 (2006-0110). San Fernando Tunnel from the North. View of the San Fernando Tunnel from the north with train entering the tunnel -- view 4 (2010-0651). San Fernando Tunnel from the South, Watkins no. 1148 -- view 4 (2006-0109a). Detail from view 2. Restricted original. Southern Pacific Railroad constructed railroad down the San Joaquin Valley to Los Angeles beginning in 1869. In 1875, built tunnels through the Tehachapi Mountains, including San Fernando.
