Description
Photograph of wagon travelers in front of the Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana, ca.1900. Three women and two men stand with two children in front of a horse-drawn covered wagon in the left foreground. Another group comprised of a man, woman and a young boy and girl stand to the right of a second wagon, at the helm of which a man with a rifle sits. A final person can be seen at the back of the second wagon, turned away from the camera. The cloister of the mission is pictured directly behind them in the background, a long, one-story adobe featuring a row of archways that supports the roof's overhang. Two doors are visible on the narrow side of the building, and a chimney is visible at the close corner of its terracotta-tiled roof. The ground in front is dusty and unpaved.
