Photograph caption dated February 17, 1965 reads, "Valley College's Carey Smith is the lone Monarch under the basket against Cerritos College last night. Although Cerritos' Les Powell (23) and Bob Rader (55), among others try to defend, the crafty Monarch forward scored anyway."
